On April 23, 2010 Mavis Staples and the band rocked the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Sold out, rocked out. Check out the Washington Post review and photos...
Couple days later Mavis, Booker T and Rick performed I'll Take You There (backed by The Roots) in front of an estimated 150,000 people on the mall in D.C. If it wasn't bizarre enough meeting Jimmy Cliff, Jessie Jackson and Questlove all in the same day, imagine seeing all those folks AND the Washington Monument while playing...unreal, surreal...call it yo mama it don't matter it was something else! Check out this most interesting youtube clip...

Mavis Staples new CD, which features Rick, Hodge and Jeff, is due to be released late summer/early fall on Anti Records. The record was produced by Jeff Tweedy (of Wilco) and is a killer. Look for it in all the finest record stores (there's at least one in LA), online shopping bazaar's (bizzare's?) and of course coffee shops and car washes. Then look for us in your town soon after...it's gonna be fun! |

Rick toured with legendary STAX soul organ monster Booker T for 3 weeks in spring 2009 in support of Booker's Grammy winning CD Potato Hole. The tour started on the east coast, then over to the Netherlands, back to San Francisco and all up into the great Northwest. The band included buddies Ronnie James Weber & Troy Gonyea, alumnus of the Fabulous T-Bird's. Thanks to Erika Olsen for these photos from the best show of the tour, in Seattle at the Triple Door...
